For a while, the plant named 'Flapjack' was circulated under the name 'Pancakes', which has led to some confusion on this name. The Lachman's named their plant with this name and some were circulated for a time before they learned that Frances Williams had also named a plant 'Pancakes' back in 1948. Upon learning this, they changed the name of their plant to 'Flapjack'. This is a good reason to consider registering plants before they are released. The original 'Pancakes' from Mrs. Williams was a cross of decorata x plantagenia with green leaves that were "flat, oval, and round".  She described the flowers as a "lovely gentle purple".
