Back in the 1970's Campbells had something called Barbecue Beans,
and Bill remembers them fondly. He set out to try to recreate them
because nobody seems to make any beans like those now. They were
four different beans in a tomato-based Memphis-style barbecue
sauce that wasn't as sweet as most brown sugar- heavy barbecue
sauces. He got fairly close then decided to make them an improved
version, so he added a little bacon, smoke, and heat.
