When we tasted Friday's Jack Daniels glazed ribs we were really surprised. The recipe came from a contest sponsored by the bourbon distiller. Whenever we go to a Fridays these days we both order them. It's a nice alternative to more traditional dry rub or sauced ribs. We make them ourselves too with this recipe, adapted from a copycat version.

                   Bourbon Rib Glaze
                            Carol
2/3 cup water
1/3 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce        1 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbs soy sauce
1 and 1/3 cups brown sugar
3 Tbs lemon juice
3 Tbs minced onion
2 Tbs Jack Daniels or other bourbon
1/4 tsp cayenne      1 Tbs Frank's Hot Sauce
2 beef bouillon cubes

Instructions

Combine water, pineapple juice, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium/high heat. Stir occasionally until mixture boils then reduce heat until mixture is just simmering.

Let mixture simmer for 40-50 minutes or until sauce has reduced by about 1/2 and is thick and syrupy. Make sure it doesn't boil over. Makes about 1 cup of glaze.

Notes - We slow-cook the ribs until tender then go to the barbecue grill with glaze. On there we use the method in the Campfire Burgers recipe to char the ribs a little, then brush again with the glaze. Serve with extra glaze.
