This is a condiment we made after trying a similar one we bought in a jar. It takes a little while to make but keeps well both in the refrigerator and the freezer. It was originally used as a topping for burgers when we had people over and is a nice addition to French Dip sandwiches.

                   Balsamic Onion Spread
                            Bill and Carol
3 large onions
2 Tbs balsamic vinegar
1 tsp mustard powder
1 beef bouillon cube
2 Tbs butter
brown sugar
touch of cayenne (optional)

Instructions

Start onions in microwave. Cook 4 minutes until softened then move to pan. Add dry ingredients and cook down on low until thickening  and thoroughly caramelized, adding balsamic when they start getting dry. Add just a tiny bit of cayenne if desired.
