The humble ham and cheese sandwich becomes something special with a few adjustments. We started making these when we had leftover spiral cut ham, which has better flavor than lunchmeat ham from the deli counter. Since then we've discovered Kentucky Legend portions of spiral cut ham in small packages. This was Bill's idea to maximize the flavor and his bacon mustard sauce really brings it home. It's been a hit with everyone who tried it.
              Best Ham and Swiss Sandwich
                           Bill
country white bread
butter
spiral cut ham
Swiss cheese
bacon dressing
dijon mustard

Instructions

First mix Bacon Dressing and Dijon mustard to taste. We use Woj-Wit dressing and Koops Dijon.

Butter the bread on both sides. Grill one side until golden brown.

Flip the bread and add the cheese. Remove from grill and warm the ham briefly. Add the sauce, and hold a little more for dipping. Best when still warm.

Notes - Bacon dressing is a sweet and sour sauce of Amish origin made with bacon and bacon fat. It's usually available in supermarkets is areas where Amish are nearby. It can be ordered from the internet. We prefer Koops Dijon mustard, which is a very mild one. Mixing the sauce depends on how strong you want the mustard.
