'Northern Mist' was registered by C. H. Falstad in 1988. The plant can reach a size of 36x30" with 36" scapes. The leaves are marbled/speckled with green, cream, light green, and it has a wide dark green margin which is very irregular. There is often some undulation on one side of the leaf which causes twisting. The leaves have heavy substance and are rugose. It is a sieboldiana 'Elegans' mutation. Van Wade comments that he has trouble keeping it stable, as it has a tendency to revert to 'Elegans'. The flowers are white with a pale lavender stripe in mid-petal, funnel-shaped, and it produces many seed pods. There are two listed sports: 'American Masterpiece' and 'Northern Mystery' - in which a fairly stable non-misted white center has formed.
