| Van Wade says it is the European version of 'Antioch' (see 'Antioch') and 'Shogun'. There is a story that all these names, including the two below, are the result of Wayside Gardens sending them out with no labels before they named it 'Antioch'. There are no clear differences among them that might refute this. The leaves have creamy white irregular edges which often radiate from the edge to near center. It won blue ribbons at the AHS Hosta Conventions in 1988 and 1989. According to Schmid, it is one of the best white-margined hostas and has been previously sold as 'Goldbrook' and 'Spinners'. These two are also similar, but may be distinct in having narrower leaves. |
