'Maple Leaf' was introduced in 1972 by Minks. It is a sport of 'Frances Williams'. The leaves are heavily corrugated with variable wide gold margins. This plant in turn has sported an all gold hosta named 'Golden Maple' (Minks 80). 'Maple Leaf' reaches a size of 36 x 24" (or more) and has 30" flower scapes. Both time of year and amount of shade determine whether or not the margins are chartreuse or gold. The margins are supposed to be wider than on the parent plant. The name refers to the appearance of a green maple leaf on a gold background. The flowers are near white.
