| Mark Zilis registered 'Lunar Eclipse' in 1985. It is a white-margined sport of 'August Moon'. Schmid says it is characterized by a spring flush of cupped-rugose leaves which usually stay chartreuse, especially during dry and hot spring seasons and a second summer flush of leaves which emerge and stay more yellow and are not as rugose and cupped. The plant is 36" in diameter and 20" high. The 6" x 5" leaves are heart-shaped and have 9-10 pairs of veins. The foliated, straight scape is 28" tall and holds medium-sized, bell-shaped white flowers during the average period. The flowers are fertile. This plant ws the cause of the coining of the term "Drawstring Effect". |
