In 1997 Dick and Jane Ward registered 'Laura and Darrell', which Handy Hatfield originated, named and introduced. It is a 'Zounds' sport. The moderate growth rate yields a mound-like plant 30" in diameter and 16" high. The 10" x 9" leaves are medium green with a 1" wide yellow gold margin. Slightly shiny on top and dull underneath, the leaves are cupped, broadly ovate with a cordate base and have 14-15 pairs of prominent veins. The scape ranges in height from 18-21" and holds the midseason, tubular blooms. The green pod yields viable seed.
