| kikutii f. leuconota is in Japan called Urajiro Hyuga Giboshi, the “white-backed Hyuga hosta.” It is a pruinose and white-backed form occurring in the wild with the species and occasionally as small, separate populations. A botanical description of this form was first published by Schmid in 1991 under its full name kikutii var. kikutii f. leuconota (= white-backed). It is well known in Japan and has been cultivated there for many years under its Japanese name. |
