jonesii is a Korean species which is named for the botanist Dr. S. B. Jones. Its Korean name is Tadohae-bibich’u, which means “several islands,” indicating its habitat on several small off-shore islands. There it grows in rocky humus in the shade of oak forests near the coast. It has a slowly creeping rhizome. Of high garden interest are the branched scapes which can be observed in some of the cultivated specimens. These are also seen in tibai and tsushimensis, to which jonesii is related.
