'Eventide' is a 1992 Lachman hosta. The cordate medium green leaves have a pure white margin which is called a piecrust margin by Van Wade. This appears to be a bit of a stretch, but the plant was a blue ribbon winner at the 1990 Leaf Show. It is large (40x17") with a 34" scape. The leaves are ovate with a cordate base. The flowers are pure white and flared. The parentage is a Lachman numbered seedling x 'Tokudama Aureonebulosa'. Both sides of the leaf exhibit a dull surface. Mildly rippled would be a better term than piecrusted. A white piecrusted edge has been the goal of some breeders for a time now. It now looks as if Roy Herald may have it, with a plant that will eventually be released by Tony Avent.
