| 'Bridegroom' is a 1990 Ralph Benedict plant. The names derives from a specific leaf structure which is apparent on first glance. The leaf is medium green, 5 x 3", ovate, and wavy. Schmid delicately refers to the plant as having a unique shape. Van Wade is quoted as saying that there is an "interesting" story behind its name. It has lavender flowers in July. Schmid says that it is fertile while Van Wade says that it is sterile. This specimen plant forms a clump 14 x 10 with 18" flower scapes. It is 'Holly's Honey' selfed. The leaves have a satiny sheen with many small marginal undulations. |
