| This is a 1983 introduction from Kevin Vaughn. The plant is erect and measures 20 x 20". It has a medium green cordate leaf, a white-cream margin, and is wavy-undulate. The lavender flowers are funnel-shaped and fertile. The bloom scapes reach 30". Parentage is 'Beatrice' x 'Frances Williams'. What you have just read is the description that both Schmid and Van Wade use. The following is from the registration information in the Silver Book: 6-8" diameter x 8-10" tall with a bloom scape of 14-18". The flowers are deep purple and widely opened, and the leaf is dark green ... not medium green. Diana Grenfell gives its size as 18 x 20" having oval to heart-shaped leaves of dark olive green, distinctly and regularly margined in yellow to ivory. Would the real 'Bold Edger' please stand up? |
