A large (48 x 30") plant with dark green leaves, perhaps darker toward the center of the leaf, 'Black Beauty' comes to us from Kate Carpenter (1984). The leaves are cordate and crinkled. This is a semi-look alike to 'Black Hills'. The plant is fertile with funnel-shaped deep lavender flowers. It is a 'Green Piecrust' hybrid. The plant is credited as being one of the darkest greens, although it may have serious competition from Mary Chastain's 'Lakeside Coal Miner'.
