This is probably the most popular of Shaw's Birchwood series. It came out in 1986 and makes a great addition to that @$5.00 hosta garden. It has glossy golden leaves (lutescent). The plant is medium sized (30 x 18") and grows well all summer. The cordate leaves are sun tolerant. The flowers are lavender and bell-shaped. Although Grenfell states that this cultivar is sterile, it is not. Schmid and Zilis maintain it is fertile and several of its hybrids have been named. It belongs in light shade and makes an excellent clump, as it is a fast grower. There is minor cupping in the leaves as it matures. It is a hybrid from 'Sunlight'.
