Birchwood Green (F Shaw 86)

This is another very large sieboldiana hybrid from Shaw (1986). The leaves are nicely crinkled and hold their color all summer long. Most of Shaw's Birchwood hostas are reasonably priced and readily available. The plant may well grow to dimensions of 52 x 24". It is noted for its rugosity. The flowers are pale lavender and it blooms in midsummer. Schmid says that it comes from the same cross as 'Birchwood Elegance'. Birchwood was the name of the Shaw family home and gardens.
